Israel’s pummeling of Gaza was never about revenge or avenging the Israelis killed by Hamas. It was about massacring Palestinians with complete impunity. At the time of writing, almost 4, 000 Palestinians have been killed in almost two weeks. To put this into perspective, this is double the amount of Palestinians killed in Israel’s 2014 assault on Gaza, which lasted around six weeks.
Update: In just 9 days alone, Israel has killed a further 3, 700 Palestinians. The death toll currently amounts to 7, 700+, including around 3, 000+ children.
Something that breaks my heart when it comes to Gaza is that so many Palestinians, aside from perhaps the youngest, are survivors of other “wars” with Israel. Imagine surviving countless assaults and air strikes just to end up losing your life in one. This is not even considering those who lost their lives during a ceasefire, like the Palestinians who were killed by Israel during the Great March of Return.
Peace is only ever temporary for Palestinians in Gaza. You’d have to be sick that even after all this, you’re still blaming Hamas and not the actual people ie Israel who have reduced them to this fate.
As someone who has been online way too long and is familiar with discourses around Palestine from Westerners, let me tell you something. It is not the right wing Zionists who are the enemy of Palestinians or obstacle to Palestine solidarity. At least they’re very open and honest with their politics.
Instead, it’s the liberals who claim to be our allies but deliberately will tone-police Palestinians on how to talk about Palestine, what language is acceptable, what solidarity actions are acceptable etc. it’s the liberals who will deliberately use confusing, obfuscating language that muddies the waters and creates enough doubt. It’s the liberals who try so hard to be objective even as Palestinians are currently dying from a state that never shows them any mercy. I could go on.

When Palestinians advocate for a one-state solution and a right of return, we advocate for a better future for Jews too, a pluralistic state with equal rights for both peoples and other minorities. Instead, it’s spun by Zionists that “from the river to the sea” is a genocidal call to drive Jews out, which is nothing more than mere hysteria that ignores that Palestinians are already being removed from their homelands as we speak, even if it’s in a subtle and slow manner.
But “from the river to the sea” isn’t a call for working together. That’s not asking for a one state solution.
That phrase was coined by Hamas and the original context was driving all the Jews from the river Jordan to the Mediterranean Sea. That is pretty genocidal.
If you want a one state solution, say that. Don’t repeat the catch phrase of people who genuinely do want to wipe out Jews.

As a Palestinian im so tired of using “polite” or “civil” language to talk about what’s happening in Palestine. The situation is so blood boiling and blood curdling. Our people are dying by the thousands and hundreds per day, yet the best the West has to offer is “But did you condemn Hamas?”
I already knew our lives weren’t worth anything but at this point I just feel so much sorrow and just empty inside. The cruelness of it all.
The way things are escalating in ways never seen before, im terrified for what’s coming next. If they can use any pretext to kill thousands upon thousands in Gaza, who’s to say what they won’t do next?

I’m so glad the tide has shifted in favour of Palestine. I think I’d be going insane if our people were just dying in vain while being gaslighted and blamed for their own deaths as Israel and Zionists always do and are doing right now.
Zionist propaganda doesn’t even work anymore, no matter how poorly constructed, because it’s getting taken apart the minute it is posted.
